Say hello to your new 2016-17 SLHS JV cheerleading team.

The two new captains are Rachel Uzamukunda and Maria Orellana. The team members are: Canayja R. , Clarita P. , Jessica R., Marisol C. , Alejandro S. , Vanessa R. , Destiny R. , Angelina V. , Maria A. , Maliyah A., Orlandi D. , and Angelique G.  The  squad is coached by Coach Davis and Coach Perez.

Excited about the upcoming winter sports season, the girls have been practicing everyday to after school while balancing their school work.

Rachel Uzamukunda -Class of 2017

“ I joined cheer because I needed something to do after school and wanted to be more involved with the school. The main reason I joined cheer was because of the love I had for it. When I was in 8th grade I said to myself “when I get to high school I’ll join cheer” I did. Since then my love for it has grown and I plan doing it till senior year. Most likely college too.”

Vanessa Rojo– Class of 2018

“I joined cheer because I’ve always been an extremely spirited individual with an incredible amount of love for Sierra Linda . I wanted to contribute to reading happiness and cheer around our school and getting student more excited about the school we love.”

Angelina Vidaurri– Class of 2020

“I joined cheer for the opportunity to become a visible leader. Cheerleading is also great to build confidence and self esteem. Along with knowing it would be hard work and fun.”
