On November 18, 2016 Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released in the United States. The movie takes you through the adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school. So far the movie has brought in a total of $810.60 million in U.S.dollars.

The original plan for the spinoff of Harry Potter was  supposed to be a three part series. But now, the “Potter” author and “Fantastic Beasts” screenwriter J.K. Rowling has revealed that the franchise will be bigger than anticipated in the beginning. During a fan event back in 2016 Rowling made an appearance and delivered some news about the continuing adventures of protagonist Newt Scamander: There will now be a total of five films in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise.
