Rockets blast Bulldogs

Sloppy, slow start results in teams lost

The Varsity football suffered their second loss of the season on Friday September the 12th against the Moon Valley Rockets, final score 32-46.

Quarterback Dominic Ruelas throw an interception with 11:09 left on the clock in the first quarter, giving the Bulldogs a rough start to the game. Moon Valley took advantage of the early turn over scoring a touchdown and a two point conversion. Bulldogs then fumbled the ball after returning from a kick off. Moon Valley recovered the loose ball scoring another touchdown and two point conversion.

Bulldogs set up for an offensive drive after receiving the ball through Moon Valleys kick off but to no prevail Moon Valley forced another fumble. Bulldogs defense returned fire forcing Moon Valley to fumble turning the ball back over to the Bulldogs. Bulldogs Running back Michael Laurean took advantage of the turnover and ran in for their first touchdown with 6:18 left in the first quarter. Laurean scored once more before the quarter ended with 2:11 left on the clock.  Sierra Linda was trailing behind at the end of the first quarter 16-12.

Bulldogs intercepted the ball in the beginning of the second quarter, Moon Valley then forced a fumble. Moon valley scored their third touchdown and two point conversion with 5:54 left in the second quarter. Bulldogs followed shortly after with their third touchdown caught by wide receiver Toshaun Thomas.  Moon Valley took the lead by scoring twice before the end of the second quarter bringing the score up to 38-19.

The third quarter was a battle of the team’s defenses. Neither team gave leniency to the other, stopping both offences from advancing. Bulldogs defense stopped the Rockets one yard away from the in zone causing a turn over that led to another touchdown caught by Thomas. Score at the end of the third quarter was 38-26

During the 4th quarter all fans rallying at their feet cheering on their team. Moon Valley scored early in the quarter giving them an extended lead. Bulldogs offense was tired causing Ruelas to be sacked multiple times. Bulldogs had unsuccessful passes blocked by the Rockets defense. Bulldogs sadly lost 46-26.

During a post-game interview Coach Ross Crow said “We missed queues early on” then he went on to say “ we couldn’t recover but well bounce back”

Their next game will be away against Agua Fria on Friday 19th kickoff is set for 7:00 P.M
