After their previous win against Mohave the Bulldogs were looking to add another win to their record, and that they did.

In the first half of the game Sierra Linda started off strong driving Sunrise Mountains ill prepared defense back. Sunrise Mountain quickly regrouped itself and matched Sierra Linda’s intensity with their own. Sunrise held the lead throughout most of the first half of the game, but Sierra Linda trailed close behind not allowing the Mustangs to gain too much of a lead.

Tension was high when the Bulldogs walked with their heads down into the locker room, with Coach Joshua Haagensen behind them as they went into the locker room trailing 1928

Junior shooting guard Toshaun T. commented on the tension between players during a post-game interview, “It’s just frustration, because this is a sectional game”

The Bulldogs returned from the locker with a new energy, but the team still had tension amongst one another. Coach Haagensen tried to keep his team together with constant encouragement. The teams went back and forth, with Sunrise Mountain holding onto a small lead.

“I’m disappointed I thought we had a real opportunity to have a good start in sectional, we didn’t come out with the energy we usually do” Haagensen said.

The team was led by junior small forward Jorge A. with 14 points and senior center Dominique B. with 8 points.
