Rachael Acedo, Staff Writer

Have you ever seen a movie that involves a natural disaster? And it feels like you are actually there? The main character of this brilliant and inspiring novel, Shy, took a summer job to make some money and help his mom and sister out with the bills. In a few months, on a cruise liner he’ll rake in the tips and have some money in his pocket, how bad could that be? He will have fun, play in the sun and maybe get a girlfriend or two.

But everything changes one day when the “Big One” hit. A gigantic earthquake, one of the biggest on record, hit off the coast of California. And Shy’s life is changed forever, he is faced with the decision to worry about himself or save the last survivors of the cruise liner.
