On the LDS.org website under the tab labeled ‘Missionary Work’ it says it in bold letters, which is the quote “our greatest and most important duty is to preach the gospel’. What is this gospel/missionary work of theirs you might ask? Well the website goes on to explain that the Latter Day Saints believe that the Lord has declared missionary work the responsibility of those who follow him, it is their job to teach their families, friends and other acquaintances who are not LDS.

Kacy Thom, an 18 year old senior at Sierra Linda High school, plans to do just that after he graduates. Thom is not only a great academic student, but a star athlete as a member of the SL varsity basketball team.

He has not yet been assigned a specific location, but he may be traveling to another state or country when he is assigned.

Thom said the reason that he chose to do this was because “It feels right”. He feels like it’s his true calling “and that everyone should have a chance to experience the Church of The Latter Day Saints”.

He will be leaving after he graduates at the end of this May.
