The main character is Cassie Sullivan. She used to be an unbroken soul until the 1st wave happened. Cassie, who is the narrator and the protagonist has a realistic personality and emotions against the others. She reacts the way any real human girl would react. She has such a brave heart, wanting to go back and rescue her little brother Sammy, with the only thing she trust, her M16 gun.
Zombie is a military trainee being trained by commander, Vosch. He lost his family during the 3rd wave, he could have saved his little sister, but instead, under pressure he ran. “I am the one, not running, not staying, but facing.”
Throughout the book the aliens, or as Cassie described them as “the others”, attack in a series of waves: 1st Wave: Lights Out, 2nd Wave: Surf’s Up, 3rd Wave: Pestilence, 4th Wave: Silencer, 5th Wave: Us
This book is a Science-Fiction genre, where the world became no other than a post-apocalyptic disaster. The book overall just talks about the alien invasion, how the aliens eliminated about 90% of the human population, and had the kids and survivors train in a secret military base.
The 5th Wave has gotten many positive feedback and also have had many tremendous quotes that can be either inspirational, humorous, or heartwarming.
