The presidential race has been gearing up and the main focus on the media side has been more on controversies and not what these candidates can do for our country. On social media it seems the trending topics have been about what crazy thing was said and not about what other candidates plan for our country.

Many Sierra Linda class of 2016 seniors will be or are currently 18 ad will have the right to vote In the upcoming November Presidential election.

There are currently 3 democrats still running and 12 republicans as of January 27 2016. The most well known seem to be Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton, those 2 have made headlines and not for the best of reasons. Trump is known for his ridiculous comments and Clinton for her recent email scandals and being a woman running for president. What about the other candidates how many people know about them?

The pool of candidates are: Republicans: Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Rand Paul, John Kasich, Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Carly Fiorina, Rick Santorum, Jim Gilmore. Seniors this year will be able to vote and it is important to vote. Many seem to not care but this is the future of our country and we all have a say in who will be our president. Aside from Trump and Clinton there are other candidates who show some promise that people should be aware of.

We asked students around the school to get their opinions on the current race and to see how much they know.

What are some presidential candidates you can name that are currently running?

Bernie Sanders, Hilary Clinton, Ben Carson, Donald Trump, and Ted Cruz and I cant remember the other names at the moment.

With Trump and Clinton leading the polls, would  you feel comfortable with one of the two becoming president why or why not?

I’d feel more comfortable with Trump if I had to choose between the two.

If you were to vote for someone, what would you want their political beliefs to be?

Stop trying to be politically correct and actually fix the country.

What are some presidential candidates you can name that are currently running?

Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump are the only ones I know.

With Trump and Clinton leading the polls, would  you feel comfortable with one of the two becoming president why or why not? 

No because they both suck but I prefer Hilary over trump.

If you were to vote for someone, what would you want their political beliefs to be? 

Huh I don’t know I have no idea Maybe something with education.

Donald Trump I know he is running as well as Bernie Sander and Clinton.

With Trump and Clinton leading the polls, would  you feel comfortable with one of the two becoming president why or why not?

I don’t feel comfortable with them becoming president because I don’t think they can make our country more successful.

If you were to vote for someone, what would you want their political beliefs to be?

If I were to vote for someone it would be Bernie Sanders and I want him to change how the U.S. is in major debt and not doing anything about it.
