Campus favorite retires

Alfred Chavez is retiring at SLHS equipment manager at SLHS. He has worked at SLHS for 8 years. He will be retiring on October 5 ,2016. Alfred could always be seen around campus and at events. He worked very hard to prepare the events for SLHS and kept in order all the student athletes uniforms and equipment.
What are you planning to do after retiring?
“My plan is to play music with my sons in a band that we have. Going on a tour to perform across the country.”
What will you miss most about SLHS?
“I will miss everyone that i worked with and all the students that crossed my path.”
What is your favorite memory at SLHS?
“My favorite memory. There have been so many good memories that I can’t pick one. A lot of them.”
Why are you retiring?
“I didn’t want to retire but i had to, my band is my job now.”
What is the name of your band?
“The name of my band is “The Latino Rebel Band.”
What is your position in your band?
“I play bass guitar and sing and I also write music.”
What are some of your other hobbies?
“My other hobbies are traveling, fishing and camping with my family.”
In a parting email to the SLHS Bulldog Nation Chavez said
“Thank you all for all the kind words .God has really Bless me letting me work with all of you and getting to know you. . I will always remember SLHS as part of my family.
