Qualifies for state at first competition!

Marching+band+represents

October 8, 2016 SLHS Marching Band went to their first competition that was held at Williams Field High School.  The band won four out of five captions categories, earning an award for each one.  Captions  are special awards given to the best percussion, auxiliary, music performance, visual performance, and general effect 

By scoring an overall excellent the band has now qualified for state on their first try!

Were you excited about preforming at your first competition?

“Yes, it was my very first competition our show is very exciting to me as well!”

How do you feel about the outcome of your first competition performance?

“I feel lit! I feel that we worked so hard for this, and this it’s a dream come true!”

Were you excited about preforming at your first competition?

“Yeah I was excited! It was my first competition as a freshman in marching band.”

How do you feel about the outcome of your first competition performance?

“I feel like we did good, but we could always do better.”

Were you excited about preforming at your first competition?

“I was pretty excited cause this is my last first competition as a senior.”

How do you feel about the outcome of your first competition performance?

“I felt it was pretty well, we just went out there and did it, and no matter what we did good.”

As your first time as a Drum Major how do you feel?

“I was very excited it is an amazing once in a life time experience!”

We then asked Mr. Laborin , how he felt about the very first competition of the season.

How do you feel about your performance?

I thought we handled it very well under the circumstances that the band was in. After the show staff thought we did bad, but after listening to the tape we realized it sounded pretty good. I was especially happy percussion got a caption the first try as well as music, general effect, and color guard.”
