PSAT Testing

Daniella Bunten

On October 19,2016 over 400 sophomore and juniors students at Sierra Linda High School took the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test or also commonly known as the PSAT. Students tested from 7:25 a.m. – 10:25 a.m.

The PSAT is a timed test of five sections. These sections are separated by two critical thinking, two math, and one of creative writing.

Assistant Principal Ms. Sempkowski coordinated the testing day. The purpose of the PSAT is to have a prep for the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test.) No electronic devices were permitted during this test. If you showed up late to testing you were not allowed to enter and disrupt the testing.

Test results will be back soon. Students who scored high could possibly be recognized as a National Merit Scholar. This program awards scholarships to the top 50,000 students across the country.

The test was given throughout the Tolleson Union High School District school. Funding was given by the Helios Foundation as part of an agreement with TUHSD.

Students had mixed reaction to the test. Ms. Sempkowski was unavailable for comment at time of story deadline.

The math section was the hardest. There were math problems I have not seen in a while.”
