You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but you should judge it by its trailer.

The SLHS Media Center has added new technology to help students gain more insight on the books they’re reading.

Using the QR code reader app students or faculty members can scan the code that is paired with a book and instantly be taken to a trailer, or an interview of the author.

The Media Centers librarian Mrs.Fresquez is responsible for the upgrade.

“QR codes are an easy interactive way for students to get interested in a book, and it makes it easier for them to use their phone to go and watch something than for me to circulate the room and get around to everyone.” She said

When asked how the QR codes benefit the students Fresquez said “It gives them information that they might not otherwise have.”

She also mentioned AURUSMA which is technology that links a picture to a video. Fresquez is using AURUSMA to introduce administrators to new students.

“I think that’s it cool you can just like scan it [with your phone] and like watch the trailer for it” said Freshman Bernice Rivera.

The new QR has already increased the number of checkouts and visitors in the Media Center according to Fresquez.

When asked how he felt on the QR codes Freshmen English teacher, Mr.Reeser simply said, “I think it’s brilliant and Mrs. Fresquez does an awesome job teaching it all to us.”
