As many know, Sierra Linda has our very own Student Resource Officer, Officer Eaton, well now we can welcome another Student resource officer and her name is Harper. On February 24, 2017 in a sit down interview, Harper talked all about her job here at school and what she does outside of school.

Harper first started off by saying that she has 10 kids and says that it is the first thing she tells people when meeting them. Her children range all the way from 6 years to 30 years old!

She has been working in this department for 17 1/2 years and has worked in both the south side and north side of phoenix. She has only worked in Kindergarten through eighth grade schools, so Sierra Linda actually happens to be her first High School. She says “The only difference between them is that obviously there is a age difference and the campus is way bigger.”Harper also gave a description of her job as a Student resource officer, ” My job is to assure the safety of students, teach students about law related education, and to enforce laws.”

Outside of school, Harper says she devotes her time to her children and also does what she can to give back. She says, ” I donate to charity and volunteer for my church.” One of her favorite moments here at Sierra Linda was over winter break when she saw the Boys Basketball Team in the gym, “I saw that they were taking pictures and stuff so I thought I’d see if they wanted to help volunteer at St Judes Hospital with me. I was expecting this very lifeless reaction but they were so eager to do it. They were so excited and I just loved that.”

Harper went on to explain why she loves Sierra Linda, “My favorite part of the students here is their spirit. It’s just so cool seeing things like the Girls basketball team winning by a landslide and still staying after the game to clean up the bleachers.”

Lastly, Harper would like to leave us bulldogs with a message: “I am here for you all and my door is open to anyone.”
