American Horror Story: Cult is the seventh season of the television series American Horror Story. The season premiered on September 5, 2017 on FX. The season is set during the aftermath of the presidential election. One of the lead actors, Evan Peters, who played many different roles in each of the past seasons of the series, played six different characters in Cult. He plays a rising cult leader named Kai Anderson and will go on to embody Charles Manson, David Koresh, Jim Jones, Marshall Applewhite, and Andy Warhol. Evan Peters spent a lot of time preparing for the role of Kai and he didn’t know he was playing additional characters until they started filming. He watched YouTube videos, documentaries, and researched many different books to get into the roles. It was a challenge for him to channel all of the characters but he enjoyed doing it.
