Series of Three Supermoons
December 7, 2017
On December 3, 2017 the series of supermoons began. A supermoon happens when a full moon or new moon is closer to the earth, also known as a perigee. There are full moons on December 3, 2017, January 1, 2018, and January 31, 2018. The full moon was slightly larger and brighter than normal. It was the last and only supermoon in 2017. The supermoon on January 1st will be the biggest of the year. The most special moon is the one on January 31st , it will feature a total lunar eclipse. This moon will get darker over time and eventually take on a rusty blood red color during the eclipse.
