The Apricot Princess

Alex O’Connor, better known by his stage name Rex Orange County, is an English recording artist and songwriter from Grayshott. His genre consists of indie pop, neo soul, bedroom pop, and alternative hip hop. Alex studied music at a BRIT school in London as a teenager. Gaining entrance on his main instrument, drums, he also sang and played guitar, and picked up piano and production software skills while working on his first album as a student there. In 2015, he released his self made album “Bcos U will never B free” at the age of 17 years old. As word of his distinctive style spread, he followed it up with songs like 2016’s “Uno” and early 2017’s “Best Friend” and “Sunflower” before releasing his second self-made LP, Apricot princess, that April. Among his fans by that time was Tyler, the creator, who featured Rex Orange County on two tracks from his Flower boy album, released in July 2017. On February 2018, he’s toured a few times in new York and in the UK, but we are waiting for a full tour here. Alex also has said in an interview, he will be releasing a new album. Hopefully I will get the experience to see him perform live, and possibly meet him.
