The Battle Between Iphone and Samsung

Johnuthun Garcia

Recently I have been in a constant debate whether I should get an Iphone 7 or the Galaxy S8 and I realized I am not the only one having this debate so I am hoping my research here will help someone in the future.

Okay, well first off lets talk about how well both phones work under certain situations:

The Iphone has quite the crazy load to work with under the hood as it has industry leading performance, amazing music playback whether its on spotify or apples own apple music. The ios 12 which is apples software has helped people in cleaning their device creating more space and has allowed the phone to work even faster. If you’re into photoshop or recording videos and uploading them then this phone is for you as it doesn’t slow down when doing quick adjustments. If you are upgrading from a previous Iphone then you would be happy to know that the 7 works 20% faster than the 6 and 4% faster than the S7. If you’re a gamer and are wondering how the 7 performs in that aspect you will not be disappointed as it works perfectly with no lag or any kind of slow down. Someone with a Galaxy wishing they could switch over like myself will be satisfied knowing the Iphone comes with many widgets to help your new phone experience.

The Galaxy S8 can rival the Iphone 7 fairly well but it has seemed to fall short as well. Sadly it is not explained fairly well how well this phone works under pressure but the most i can seem i can come up with is that it seems to have the most advanced specs on the market before the Iphone 8. Some sites have said that honestly it is not worth it to upgrade the S8 since it is basically the same as the S7 just with minor upgrades.

Next off I will cover the battery life and the space each phone has

First off the Iphone has a battery span of about 14 hours for prolonged use and has 10 days of battery life on standby mode (not using it). It has a pretty impressive battery in it but it doesn’t seem to be an upgrade at from the Iphone 6 at all. Some reviews have stated that the battery life seems to be shorter but other have said it lasted longer so it may just be the luck of the draw to see how long it will last for you. But away from the battery the memory storage on this phone is really impressive. There are two different types you can get from stores, You can either get the 32 GB version ($549.99) or the 128 GB ($649.99). This is impressive as the phone itself helps you save memory and the ram of the phone uses up only two of those GB which allows you to use the rest of the 30 GB or 126 GB for whatever you would like.

Next up the Samsung Galaxy S8 has a surprisingly solid battery choice but only for those who do not use their phones 24/7. This battery is the most impressive i have ever seen on a phone as it will last you a whole day of use but you would have to use all of the many options of battery savers this phone has to offer. If you do not mind the battery as is then you are in luck as the battery is able to charge really fast and you can brag to everyone that you have the strongest battery to date. We can not forget about its storage capacity and wow is it impressive beating the Iphone 7‘s drastically. The storage itself has a good 64 GB and wow that is a crazy number as some phones may have around 16 GB to 32 GB so this is a major upgrade and you wouldn’t have to worry about the 4 GB memory used for the ram as there is a slot you can use to add more memory.

Finally, we will look over the camera quality on both phones since this was a big one in my decision.

The camera quality on the Iphone 7 is just as impressive as ever getting praise from many people across the industry. The camera has gotten a pretty great upgrade as it has a pretty color capture mode, low light pictures have gotten a major upgrade, and best of all both front and rear cameras seem to have gotten the same upgrades. The camera modes that are included are HDR mode, Live photos, flash upgrades, shutter speed upgrades, and a brighter/colorful picture upgrades.

The Galaxy S8 did not mess around as well when it came to the camera almost meeting Iphone standards. First off a small detail but the camera stays flat which looks very stylish. The camera as some people have stated inst a true upgrade from the S7 but it still shows a lot of promise. As this phone of the next generation shows its true colors some have noticed that the camera comes with augmented face masks as an option, this is because Samsung doesn’t want their customers to go anywhere else for things such as that. An upgraded part of the camera has to be the low light pictures as they have been majorly upgraded but because of the focus on that the daylight shots have suffered and could have been better.

The research has been done, the specs have been lied out and now what do you think? which is the better phone? who has come out of this battle with a new user and who has been left needing more? You decide, I know i have.
