Sierra Linda varsity football played Verrado on October 16th losing 55-27. Head coach Ross Crow said on the game,” We came out flat with no energy. We got put in a hole early and we weren’t able to battle back fast enough.”

The Bulldogs started off shaky. The defense struggled to stop the Vipers offense. They allowed them to score 27 points in the first quarter not scoring any points of their own with an end of quarter score of 27-0.

In the second quarter, the Bulldogs got their first touchdown of the game. Senior running back Adam Gutierrez ran the ball in for a touchdown with 2:59 left in the half. “Overall I believe we did adequate. It wasn’t our best or worst performance. As a team we could’ve tackled much better and played with more energy. “Gutierrez said.

The Bulldogs went into the half trailing the Vipers 48-7.

The Bulldogs came out of halftime with intensity. They improved their overall play. They allowed the Vipers to score only one touchdown in the third quarter. They also scored another touchdown of their own with Adam Gutierrez running the ball in set up by a 39-yard reception by senior wide receiver Joshua Chavez. “I think we came out very flat and not prepared. We started slow but picked it up in the second half. “Chavez said.

In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs got it together. They held the Vipers to 0 points in the fourth. They would score twice both by senior Toshaun Thomas running in the ball.

The Bulldogs next game is their Homecoming game against La Joya (2-6), aka Battle of Lower Buckeye, on Friday October 23rd at 7p.m.
