Sexual Harassment

Stop touching me!

Elicia Lueraharris

Sexual harassment, something that’s happens every day, and what seems like all the time. It happens in the work place, on the streets, even at school, the place where you go for education. It happens with girls harassing boys, and what seems to happen the most, boys harassing girls. Harassment is bad enough, but sexual harassment is another level, especially if it’s where you go to get an education. Although the harasser is the one to blame, it comes down to the harassed reporting it or letting it go.

According to Huffpost.com in 2011 in the month of May and June they surveyed 1, 002 girls and 963 boys. The results came back as 56% of girls and 40% of boys were sexually harassed however only 9% of them reported the harassment.

Reason for not reporting incidents that happens was because the students were scared, didn’t think it would do anything, and afraid of what teachers and other authority would react. Students shouldn’t be afraid but most importantly students shouldn’t be harassed and put in that position of humiliation and embarrassment.

Seeing sexual harassment every day is sickening, to see a male, and/or female disrespect another human being, weather is was when they were making out, saying bye, or just in general. Sexual harassment isn’t something that should be happening and encourage, and schools need to make that clear to all students, and help students understand to tell someone and not be embarrassed.
