New “Dean” on Campus

Recently a new business club has formed on SLHS campus. The club’s name is Future Business Leaders of America.  The club was created for students that want to learn more about business. The instructor of the club is new SLHSteacher Mr. Joe Dean.

What is FBLA?

“To bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs that help students develop competent, aggressive business leadership skills.”

What do you like to do during your free time?

“I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.”

What are two words you would use to describe yourself?

“Dedicated and determined.”

How long have you been teaching?

“Since 1990. This is my 26th year. “

What do you teach at SLHS?

“I teach informational technology, B.O.S.A.S, and marketing

What is the reason for starting FBLA? 

“I believe the future depends on the mutual understanding and cooperation among business industries and educational institutions, as well as people around the world. I plan on doing my best to bring about understanding and cooperation with my students.”

Were you in a club like FBLA when you were in school?

“North High School, I was the president of V.I.C.A (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America). Phoenix College, I was president of M.E.C..H.A (Movimiento Estudiante Chicanos de Aztlan).  ASU, member of HBSA (Hispanic Business Leaders of America).”
