Varsity football fall short in opener

The varsity football team had their first home football game of the season against Desert View Jaguars of Tucson on Friday, August 21th losing 36-21 in front of one of the most spirited crowds in school history.

‘’We just need to get better at the little things coming with 100% effort and intensity.’’ said head coach Ross Crow

The Bulldogs looking improved from last year jumped out to an early lead 14- 0 lead after the first quarter. Starting running Adam Gutierrez scored for the first touchdown of the season.

The Bulldog’s defense stopped the Jaguars offense on their opening drive of the game and then on their next drive forced a fumble which lead to starting QB Toshaun Thomas running in from the 2 yard line.

‘’In honesty I did well but that doesn’t matter because we didn’t get the win.’’ said Toshaun Thomas on his QB performance

Before the half Toshaun Thomas throw a 29 yard touchdown to Vidal Aguilar for the last touchdown of the night for the Bulldogs.

The Jaguars, who had a 17 game losing streak, answered with 2 touchdowns making it a 21-14 half time Sierra Linda lead.

The Bulldogs came back the the second half with a new QB Dominic Ruelas who could not move the ball down the field and Bulldogs defense who could not stop the Jaguars offense who came out and put up 22 points with no response from the Bulldogs
