As many of you know, Paris, France was recently attacked by ISIS resulting into 129 tragic deaths. Before the attacks in Paris it was best known for being the city of love and a huge tourist destination.

Here are a few facts about Paris you probably did not know.

1. Most of it’s schools participate in a 4 day school basis, giving them Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday off.

2. The first ever face and artificial heart transplant took place in France.

3. France legalized same sex marriage in May 18, 2013.

4. A whole school year runs between September to early July.

5. France is the most visited country in the world.

6. Paris was first known as a Roman city named”Lutetia”.

7. The French government gives medals to parents who successfully raise their children with dignity.

8. In France you are allowed to marry a dead person.

9. Jews were given Muslim ID’s by The Mosque of Paris to help them escape the Nazis.

10. Between the 1742-1772 potatoes were illegalized.
